Frequently asked questions
FMAP.insure is a private website from Nymble Insurance LLC, a licensed Florida agency, and is not FMAP.org. Requests here go only to Nymble. Below are straight answers about FMAP, Citizens, takeout offers, roofs, inspections, flood and how to compare home insurance quotes in Florida.
About FMAP.insure and FMAP
Is FMAP.insure the same as FMAP.org?
No. FMAP.insure is a private website run by Nymble Insurance LLC, a licensed Florida agency. FMAP.org is the official, free Florida Market Assistance Plan referral service administered by Citizens. We are not affiliated with FMAP, Citizens or the State of Florida.
Who sees my information on FMAP.org?
FMAP's privacy notice says your information will be made available to Florida licensed agents and insurance companies participating in FMAP, solely to offer you coverage. Multiple agencies may contact you.
Who sees my information on FMAP.insure?
Only Nymble Insurance. We do not sell your request or pass it to other agencies. The insurance companies we request quotes from receive the details they need to quote.
Can Nymble quote my home?
Yes. We quote every applicant, including Citizens policyholders, homeowners with takeout offers, and non-renewals, and we compare options on matching coverage.
Do agencies get different rates from the same insurer?
No. Carriers file rates with the State of Florida and every agency uses the same filed rates. Different prices from the same carrier almost always mean different coverage.
Does requesting a quote here register me with FMAP?
No. Only fmap.org registers you with FMAP. You can use both.
Is there a cost?
No. Requesting a quote is free and there's no obligation.
What areas do you cover?
All 67 Florida counties. See our Florida county and city guides.
Florida home insurance basics
What is Citizens Property Insurance?
Florida's state-created insurer of last resort. State law moves eligible policies back to the private market through the Clearinghouse and depopulation.
What is a Citizens takeout (depopulation) offer?
An offer from an OIR-approved private insurer to assume your Citizens policy. If the offer is within 20% of your Citizens renewal premium, you generally lose Citizens eligibility.
Does roof age affect my eligibility?
Often. Under s. 627.7011, insurers can't refuse to write or renew solely because a roof is under 15 years old; for older roofs you can get an inspection, and 5+ years of remaining life gives the same protection. Carriers can still consider condition.
What is a wind mitigation inspection?
An inspection on Florida's OIR-B1-1802 form that documents wind-resistant features. Insurers must offer credits for qualifying features.
What is a 4-point inspection?
A report on the roof, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, commonly required for older homes. The age threshold varies by carrier.
Does homeowners insurance cover flood or storm surge?
No. Flood, including storm surge, needs a separate flood policy (NFIP or private).
How fast will I hear back?
We reach out by your preferred method as soon as we can. Some homes take longer to quote than others.
Can I use FMAP and FMAP.insure at the same time?
Yes. They are separate. Using one does not affect the other.
